Free of all prejudice which might restrict his means of expression, of any pre-established formula or plan, the artist expresses himself with complete freedom. The doctor's diagnosis gives place to that of the artist. But, however boundless may be my confidence in the doctor, my preference goes to the painter. Because the artist's diagnosis, his pictures, drawn in a manner at once tender and vigorous, generous in coluoring, be they eroic or tragic, serene or sad, joyous or bitter always express the triumph of Life!"
