Exsol - Johannesburg, South Africa [1992]
As Software Engineer, I used various libraries including the Kofax KIPP (
Turbo C
) libraries, to develop imaging utilities that operated on
IBM PC
compatibles, under the MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows 3.1 operating systems. I also used Microsoft Visual Basic to develop user interface prototypes.
Q-Data and Micrografix - Johannesburg, South Africa [1994]
Contracted out from Q-Data Consutling to Micrographix, to develop and support an imaging software, run under Windows with a Btrieve database. Utilised Borland C++ and Microsoft Visual C++ to enhance this Object Orientated software.
Mobex - Sydney, Australia [1995]
Interfaced an
Arcnet
server that communicated with the
TK range
of Casio Cash Registers (Point of Sale), to a Hotel Front Desk system. The RS-232 interface required development of a comprehensive communications protocol, with fail-safe hand-shake type messaging and periodic watchdog to ensure quality of communication. The product, called "VHS" (Versatile Hospitality System) was promoted internationally by Casio (Japan) and was installed in various countries around the world.
